Self Diagnosis File

The pinsound-self-diagnosis file is automatically created by USB enabled products, during the initialization sequence. Every time you turn your pinball machine on, a the diagnosis file is updated and written onto the USB flash drive.

This file contains many information on your system and can help you to check:

  • Firmware version
  • Hardware model & version
  • Serial number
  • Power supplies (+5V, +12V, …)
  • System detected
  • Device connected (Motion Control, …)

HOW TO OPEN IT

Turn off your pinball machine, retrieve the USB flash drive and connect it to your computer (Windows or Mac).

At the root of the flash drive, open the file named pinsound-self-diagnosis.txt with any text editor such as notepad, textedit, MSoffice, openoffice, to name a few.

You can check your current firmware version.

The latest available firmware can be downloaded from your support product page.

Confirm the list of the sound packs loaded by the board.

If you’ve loaded multiple packages, the current active package will be indicated.

You’ll also get more information about the related shaker events (if you have connected a Motion Control board).

Voltage power supplies read at startup, during the initialization.

5V MEASURED: check if your +5V is between the expected range.

AMPLIFIER VOLTAGE MEASURED: check if you amplifier voltage is between the expected range.

If one of your power supplies is out of range, it can leads to stability issue or amplifier undervoltage/overvoltage protection.

Volume of your Headphones Station at startup.

If you have a pinball machine with an analog volume (like Data East or System11), it will display your coinbox potentiometer volume.

Unique serial number of your product.

Required to activate your PinSound Studio Pro licence.

If you have connected a Motion Control board, you will find a confirmation on this section.

If the Motion Control is not correctly wired, it won’t be detected and won’t appear in the diagnosis file.

On your Motion Control board, you have 3 levels of power, you can check the level defined

The board will automatically detect your pinball machine system, such as System11, Data East, WPC89, etc..

Confirm the values of your potentiometers (if you have a PLUS sound board) at startup.

This information is useful for the PinSound staff if you need technical support.

Your actual board model.

Your hardware revision (especially useful if you contact the PinSound staff for technical support).
